‘SIMPLY SLOVENIA’ is the title of a project Shirlie is working on with top Slovene photographer Bogdan Kladnik. The book is planned for publication in October 2007 as a promotion of Slovenia in the English-speaking world market, and will feature Bogdan’s amazing photographs, English text by Shirlie and Bogdan, and a cd of some of Shirlie’s Slovenia-inspired songs.
SIMPLY SLOVENIA’ the cd will also be available separately from the book, featuring a selection of Shirlie’s songs from ‘The Vanishing Lake’ album, plus new tracks produced and arranged in Ljubljana by the exceptional Tomaz Kozlevcar (from Slovenia’s number one vocal group, The New Swing Quartet). New recordings will include both the Slovene and English versions of Shirlie’s tribute to Ljubljana, ‘Green Dragon’ / ‘Zeleni Zmaj’ (Slovene translation by Andrej Rozman and Shirlie’s first studio recording in the Slovene language!), plus Shirlie’s setting of Preseren’s poems ‘Kam’ and ‘Pod Oknom’, and her dedication to the altar at Ptujska Gora, ‘Maria’s Wings of Love’.
