A Message From Shirlie
When I returned home to London from Slovenia in July this year after the bombings, I stopped at an unusual garden at my local underground station, close to my home. A small courtyard next to Kings Cross had been turned into a mass of flowers, poems, prayers and rememberances from all over the world, from all races, religions, backgrounds and ages. I stood and cried at the manifestation of so much love – and at the one thought which sang out from the drawings and letters of young local schoolchildren, to muslim prayers and international flags of support: let us live in a peaceful world.
Peace begins within each and every one of us, and when we hold the Christ light within, we all become part of a greater flame which enlightens our fears and grief and releases the truth of who we really are. What better way to do this than to all join together in the beautiful Franceskan church at the centre of Ljubljana in this special concert to which I now warmly invite you. Every song I will sing will be dedicated to peace, and I am requesting that there is no applause. Instead, my wish is that we may silently pray and breathe together between songs, that we may truly be in unity and raise the vibration of peace with our unified focus and our love.
Please know that you are greatly valued as a member of this unique audience, and that your special presence really will make a difference.
I promise to be a PeaceMaker by the thoughts I hold in my heart
Hope to free humanity, the chance to play my part
Together we make the possible, together we join as one
I promise to weave a chain of light for the children yet to come
('Peacemaker': Lizzie Davies/Shirlie Roden)
Whether you can be there or not, I look forward to joining with you in spirit on the 20th and the 4th. Let's Create Peace.
Love and blessings
Shirlie Roden
