In the late 1970's and early 1980's, Shirlie was a member of the Gordon Giltrap Band, her high ethereal vocal notes featuring on albums such as Perilous Journey and Fear of the Dark and Gordon Giltrap Live, as well as many appearances on the Old Grey Whistle Test with Gordon. Giltrap UK is the website of this highly original acoustic guitarist.

South Wales is well-known for its musical talent and alongside Shirlie at Newport High School was Dave Thomas, who became lead singer in Welsh band Blonde on Blonde. Shirlie later joined Dave and Debi Doss in the seventies as lead singers in Robin le Mesurier's London band Reign. Dave continues today with his own brand of blues-based music featuring his powerful voice. 		351
